The Science Department of Hiworth College and Sixth Form is committed to providing students with a strong foundation in scientific knowledge, practical skills, and technological competence required for success in higher education, research, innovation, and modern careers.

The department operates a blended curriculum that integrates the Nigerian WAEC curriculum with key elements of the British curriculum, ensuring that students benefit from both local relevance and international best practices. This approach equips learners with a broad academic perspective, strong practical competence, and the critical thinking skills required to thrive in an increasingly global and technology-driven world.

The department combines rigorous classroom instructions with practical laboratory experiences, project-based learning, field studies, and technology-driven teaching methods. Through these approaches, students develop analytical thinking, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and the confidence to apply scientific principles to real-life situations.

Our team of highly qualified and dedicated teachers creates a stimulating learning environment that encourages curiosity, independent inquiry, and a passion for discovery. Students are guided to observe, investigate, experiment, analyze data, and draw logical conclusions, preparing them to become responsible contributors to society and future leaders in science, technology, engineering, and innovation.

In line with global best practices, emphasis is placed on practical competence, research skills, digital literacy, teamwork, effective communication, and ethical scientific conduct. Students are encouraged to participate in science fairs, exhibitions, competitions, STEM projects, and other enrichment activities that broaden their knowledge and expose them to emerging scientific trends.
